RADISSON FORT GEORGE HOTEL ON MARKET Belize City's flagship hotel, the Radisson Fort George, is for sale. The asking price for the 102-room property is US$15 million. That's a little less than US$150,000 a room. Smaller mid-scale hotels such as the Fort George typically bring per-room sales prices of US$75,000 to $140,000, though prime properties can bring much more. For example, the famous 805-room Plaza Hotel in New York City brought US$839,000 per room in a 2004 sale. Originally opened in 1953, the Fort George expanded over the years with a six-story, glass-fronted tower section facing the sea and the addition of what was the Villa/Holiday Inn across the street. The hotel has a marina, two restaurants, 6,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, two swimming pools, shops, a bar and parking for about 30 vehicles. Regent Realty in Belize City is advertising the property.
