I posted a reply question in another thread under the Cayo section, but since it's a different topic altogether, I figured I should treat it as such...

Does anyone know of a convenient and safe location to store luggage in Belize City for the day? I'm going to be coming in from San Ignacio, and catching a flight to San Pedro, and would like to spend the day hanging out in Belize City, but in order to do so I need to get rid of my backpack. Are there any locker rentals or something else I'm not thinking of that you could recommend?

Thanks!

Why not ask Tropic/Maya to stow it for you? Much more flexible there than in the US where your backpack is suspect for imitating a bomb

Yes. I've had several people check into Tropic and leave their luggage, then go off and do whatever before returning for their flights. With one couple their flight wasn't for several days, but Tropic were fine with it.

I did not believe your last post as it seems to me to be a recipe for disaster for both entities-Tropic do not want people to leave their luggage with them for longer than a couple of hours of them leaving.

They rent lockers at the main water taxi place in Belize City (the old one) now there are 2 places. I am not sure if the new one has lockers but the old one does. If you are going into the city have them take you to the old Water Taxi place then you can leave your backpack and walk around downtown. You may just want to take the water taxi to SP if you are downtown.

P1 - it's true, or was then. I haven't checked in the last year or so.

Mary, What is the "new water taxi place" you're talking about?
