Following a tragic traffic mishap that claimed the life of Orange Walk businessman Leonel Guerra, some concern is being raised about the slow response to repair the broken guardrail from the Toll Bridge. Viewers may recall that about two weeks ago, Guerra was travelling back home from Belize City at around three in the morning when his vehicle rammed through the guardrail of the Tower Hill Bridge near the toll booth and plummeted into the New River.

And while it is anyone's guess as to when the repairs will be made, it is of note that the Toll Bridge booth was implemented so as to pay for the upkeep and maintenance of the bridge. From what we understand, the toll booth on average collects about $500.00 dollars a day. Our attempts to get comment from the Ministry of Works have gone unanswered. As is our civic duty, we will keep the pressure on the authorities since the unattended guardrail poses a significant risk to commuters and pedestrians.
