Shooting victim/PM's law partner, Rodwell Williams recovering

Belize City lawyer, Rodwell Williams, and law partner of the prime minister, who was critically injured during an execution attempt while leaving his law firm, Barrow and Williams, on Albert Street on June first, is on the road to recovery. Fifty-three year old Williams, was shot once by two assailants while walking towards his vehicle in an adjacent parking lot. Williams was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida where he has been undergoing treatment since the shooting. Williams' initial prognosis was slim as local doctors said he needed to undergo several delicate surgeries to survive the shooting. Today News Five spoke with Prime Minister Barrow who gave an update on the progressive recovery of his partner.

"He's doing very well indeed. All things considered, he is now able to speak for extended periods. He is able to get about with a walker. He's been out of the intensive care unit for maybe two weeks now or just under two weeks and he is undergoing physical therapy. As I said, he is even able to move with the aid of a walker."

Two Belize City men have since been charged for the attempted murder of the lawyer. They are twenty-seven year old Ricky Valencia and eighteen year old Akeem Thurton. Both men are scheduled to appear in court this Tuesday to answer charges.
