2 San Pedro tour guides charged for attempting to corrupt a police officer

Two San Pedro men are in trouble with the law tonight. Twenty-eight year old Arglye Jex, a tour guide of Coral Street in San Pedro�and thirty-three year old Lewis Caal, of Pescador Drive, appeared before the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith and were jointly charged with attempting to corrupt Senior Superintendent, Edward Broaster. The incident is said to have occurred on Saturday in Caye Caulker when the duo attempted to pay Broaster a hundred dollars to secure their release from custody.

There was no objection to bail so Jex and Caal were granted bail in the sum of one thousand dollars each. The Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith ordered the men to report to the San Pedro Police Station every Monday and set their next court date for May fifteenth. Both men, as recent as Monday, were before the court for a charge of possession of controlled drugs. They pleaded guilty and were fined.�
