More Hurricane relief for Belize

A cheque for $400,000 was today handed over to Prime Minister, Hon. Said Musa, by the Ambassador of the Republic of China, His Excellency,
Charles E.H. Tsai.
The money is to be spent in the operation of the National Emergency
Management Organization, NEMO, in the reconstruction and relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Keith.
To date, money received include: Republic of China - $20,000;
(additional); L and G Communications - $20,000; US Embassy - $50,000; IDB - $100,000; OAS - $40,000; PACT - $50,000; Local Red Cross - $25,000; International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - $132,000; American Red Cross - $50,000; His Excellency Eduardo lama - $100,000; OCHA - $60,000; UNDP - $100,000; UNICEF - $400,000; and Korea $40,000.
In pledges: One-Love Radio-Thon, sponsored by LOVE FM, Estereo Amor and MORE FM - $32,128.67; Stationary House $4,000 in school supplies for approximately 150 needy schoolchildren; Canada - $66,000; Italy
$160,000; Norway - $60,000; US Office of Disaster Assistance, OFDA -
$50,000; the Caribbean Development Bank - $200,000; Red Cross
International Appeal - $4,600,000; PAHO - $100,000 and Australia -
$10,000.
Even at this time, pledges and monies continue coming in and updates on these will be made as soon as they are available.
