I'm guessing it is a juvenile. Do you have any other pictures of it. Can you give a description? Like shape? Fins almost look like Lizard Fish.

I think it might be a Damselfish - either called a Bluespot or a Jewel, and I think Harriette is right, it looks like a juvenile.
There's another damselfish, called a yellowtail damselfish, which doesn't have a yellow tail when it's a juvenile.

This is the only picture (so far) (we are still sorting thru our pictures!) The fins and tail look transparent, never seen anything quiet like this. Appreciate your your help, this is a great web site (thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I found it. hee-hee) We are coming back to that area in March, will be looking for this little guy again, also hope to see some whale sharks. Thanks for your help.

Here's the juvenile queen angelfish... http://www.daveread.com/FlowerGardens/April2000/small/juvy-queen.jpg and here's an unidentified (according to wikipedia) blue white dot pufferfish... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...Blue_and_White_Dot_Pufferfish_3008px.jpg I couldn't find any other reference for it.

Hmmm...seems I can't post the images in a message. If you click on the links the pictures will come up.

Much younger Juvie QA are different but when they are the size of a shilling this seems larger. the photo is just to rough to ID.
it has to go down as a USO (unidentified Swimming Object)

Here is a pic of juvenile yellowtail damselfish. Their tails turn bright yellow when they are mature.
