The Yucatan Jay is one I don't see a lot but interests me because of their secretive nature and the many varied stages of morphe. This one is a young male very close to maturing. Appointed group members are scouts/lookouts for danger and call a warning to the group when they see someone approach. This makes them hard to watch...and yes thats dog food in its mouth. they are to cautious to visit the front of the house so I put a feeder in the back.

This photo is a lesson in photography for me. I used auto focus and the sensor was fooled by the sea grape in the foreground and focused on it instead, putting my subject a little out of the depth of field. There is also a little camera movement from the long focal length and the slow shutter speed combination. not the sharpest shot of the Jays I hope to get.
