Upside down Oriole

This Oriole visits our garden every day. We were just about to go dance in Comparsa at Carnival when Maya said 'wait. I need to get a shot.' This is it.

Mr. Praline: I'll tell you what's wrong with it, my lad. 'E's dead, that's what's wrong with it!

Owner: No, no, 'e's uh,...he's resting.

Mr. Praline: Look, matey, I know a dead oriole when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now.

Owner: No no he's not dead, he's, he's restin'! Remarkable bird, the oriole, idn'it, ay? Beautiful plumage!

Mr. Praline: The plumage don't enter into it. It's stone dead.

Owner: Nononono, no, no! 'E's resting!

Actually, getting the Oriole away from the cat was hard enough. We had to borrow a blow drier from our neighbour to fluff him up after we'd bathed him. We used fishing line and tried to make him stand up straight, but gravity beat us. Hence the hanging upside down look. Elbert, we tried it your way with the food, but we think scavenging the cat's kills makes for much more creative photo opportunities.

Ok, pushing aside the very sad and unfortunate demise of the Oriole here. All prayers said......
CollyK I was LMAO when I read how hard the 2 of you worked to bring him back from the dead!! I wonder what the neighbor thought when you told him you wanted "blow dry" a bird!! LOL
Simon--I also am a Python fan. Thanks for posting that!

Well shopgirl, it was very tricky you know. We first tried to hang him from the washing line, but his little feet wouldn't stay in the clothes pegs so he kept falling in the sand. As the local Boa was watching all of this unfold eagerly, we felt that the blow drier was our only remaining option. My neighbour is a hair dresser and recommended the right product. I think it looks rather fetching myself. You'd never guess it was dead. It looks, well, almost like it is alive and feeding from a flower. Doesn't it?
