The mayors from eight of nine municipalities and cities from all over the country were on Ambergris Caye on Thursday December 13th on a working visit to the island. The Mayors were hosted by the San Pedro Town Council and were officially welcomed by Mayor Daniel Guerrero at the opening of the working visit. The purpose of the mayors convening in San Pedro is a part of the monthly Belize Mayor's Association meeting hosted in different venues.

According to San Pedro Mayor, Daniel Guerrero, during the meeting several issues were discussed such as the common challenges faced by the municipalities. The meeting also served to discuss ideas on how they can help each other to improve the each municipality and to share ideas amongst Mayors and other council members present all in an effort to improve the municipalities in the country.

Present at the meeting were Mayor Anthony Fuentes of Punta Gorda Town, Mayor Gilbert Swaso of Dangriga, Mayor Simon Lopez of Belmopan City, Mayor John August Jr. of San Ignacio/Santa Elena Town, Mayor Miguel "Mike" Velasquez of Benque Viejo del Carmen, Mayor Kevin Bernard of Orange Walk Town, Mayor Hilberto Campos of Corozal Town and Mayor Daniel Guerrero of San Pedro Town. Belize City Mayor Darrell Bradley was absent but was represented by Deputy Mayor Deon Leslie.
