A Benefit to Be Held on the Beachfront near Wayo's Beachside Beernet on December 15th at 4PM in honour of Hector "Chapin" Duran and Family. On December 15th starting at 4:00PM in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize on the beachfront near Wayo's Beachside Beernet in Boca del Rio, there will be held a benefit to raise money in honor of Hector "Chapin" Duran and family, including five children plus one on the way, who were left behind when "Chapin" was tragically killed in a scuba tank explosion accident.

A small group of local people, led by Vic Murphy and Melanie Paz, have banded together to put on this Christmas Holiday Benefit, which will include Christmas caroling, food and drinks, live music as well as auctions and raffles with proceeds to go to the remaining family of the deceased.

The event is meant to be a Holiday Celebration of Chapin and it is hoped that a fun time will be had by all while raising money for this family in need. In addition to an organized choir, song sheets will be projected on a screen for all to join in. Many local San Pedro businesses have donated products and services that will either be auctioned off or given as prizes via raffles. In addition, Eduardo "Wayo" Vasquez of Wayo's Beachside Beernet will be donating a portion of his establishment's proceeds for that evening.

The event is open to all who wish to attend.

Hector "Chapin" Duran, a Dive Master and veteran tour guide for the past 20 years, was tragically killed on October 8th, 2012 at his place of work, Amigos Del Mar, when a scuba tank he was filling with air inexplicably exploded, puncturing his mid-section and causing his instant death. The cause of the explosion is still unknown. He is survived by five children with one baby still on the way.

Cash donations, as well as products or services to be raffled/auctioned off, are being accepted.

Please contact Vic Murphy at 501.604.7277 to make a donation.
