I know you could use regular credit cards, but can you use your bank card? You know your ATM-mastercard/visa, I also know that they do not have a Atm machine. I am talking about debit/chaged cards?

I am not a debit charge user.
Call your bank and ask.
I have heard debit card numbers in the wrong hands, can wipe out all your money in that account.
Others will reply, with better info I am sure.

I took travelers checks and used them everywhere (Only small stands and vendors do not take them). The key is to take mostly twenties. I know this makes for a large amount of bills, but it worked for me. I would cash a twenty in at breakfast or lunch, and have enough poacket money for the rest of the day. On some days, I would live on just one twenty, and others I would spend forty. It is all up to you. You can live very cheaply, or spend as much as you like!

I used my Debit card last Nov for the entire trip - had NO problems. Used just like a Visa. Took cash for smaller purchases, btu had no problems with a Debit card.

Thanks,
I took travelers checks last year. But I also took my M/C, but I figues that if it comes right out of my account, that would be wonderful, then I do not have to look at a large bill when I get home Also when you take all those twenties and about half way through your vacation it looks like you have the same amount but then one day you go back and have just a few. I think I would do well with my debit card. Cuz I do at home.

many debit cards cannot be distinguished from a credit card at all. Use mine all the time as a CC and never a problem.

The only reason I hesitate to use my Visa debit card is that this is where I keep most of my cash for traveling and bills. If it is wiped out, I will have to wait for the bank to decide if it was fraud and in the meantime will have no money.

I totally understand all that , all I could do is call my bank in the AM and see what they have to say.I would be in big time trouble if mine got lost/stolen too.
