U.S. Embassy - Belmopan

On-Line Visa Interview Appointment System To Be Activated on March 26, 2007

The Consular Unit of the U.S. Embassy has implemented an on-line appointment system for anyone wishing to apply for a non-immigrant (B1/B2), student (F1) or worker (H2B) visa to the United States. This on-line appointment system will give each applicant the opportunity to choose his/her own appointment date and time and will guarantee an interview at the appointed time, eliminating numerous trips to the U.S. Embassy for interviewing and processing.

The on-line appointment system will be activated on March 26, 2007, for appointments beginning April 2, 2007. Applicants will now begin the visa application process by going to the U.S. Embassy website at http://belize.usembassy.gov. On the home page of the website, the applicant will then go to Visa Services and read carefully the instructions under "How to Apply." These instructions include direct links to the electronic visa application form and the on-line appointment system.

Applicants must bring print-outs of the completed electronic visa application form, the accompanying bar code, and the appointment confirmation to the U.S. Embassy in Belmopan on the morning of the scheduled appointment. Applicants will be interviewed on that day so they must bring documents with them to verify their financial and social ties to Belize. Examples of these documents are listed on the "How to Apply" instructions under Visa Services on the Embassy website.

As of May 1, 2007, only pre-scheduled appointments will be given interviews for non-immigrant visas. The month of April will be a test month, and walk-ins without confirmed appointments will be accepted and interviewed after the on-line confirmed applicants have been interviewed. However, after the May 1 deadline, only emergency medical and late-registration student visa applicants will be granted interviews without on-line confirmations.

Visa applicants are encouraged to call the Consular Unit at 822-4011 if there are questions with the new process.
