Earlier this week the Belize Tourism Board officially opened its Information Kiosk at the Santa Elena Border arrival area in the Corozal District. Interim Director of Tourism, Javier Paradez is quoted as saying that Belize has seen a significant increase of 24% in overnight arrivals coming through the Northern border with an outstanding 12% being accounted for just for this year. The BTB says as outlined in its Action Plan 2010 -2012, the Marketing Department, through the dedicated work of its Hospitality Team successfully established the Kiosk in an effort to continue stimulating an already vibrant cultural Belize experience with the natural integration of tourism while providing a welcoming environment to the overnight tourists. The fully equipped Kiosk is staffed by two BTB Hospitality personnel who will be available to provide visitors with an orientation to Belize. This includes assisting them in familiarizing themselves with the different activities and tourism product being offered in Belize. Present at the ceremony were Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture Manuel Heredia Jr., Mayor of Corozal Hilberto Campos, Board of Directors and Industry Partners.
