We have 9 people going down for a wedding on Ambergris Caye May 23rd-27th. I have seen posts on here about water taxis and ferrys, but can't locate them.

Can anyone give me some info on them? We go from Belize City to Ambergris after a 1:20PM (hopefully) flight arrival time. I seem to remember reading something about the last boat leaving about the middle of the afternoon. We just hate to pay about $1800 in airfare when water taxis should be about 1/4 of that.

Thanks for your help.

Mark

My suggestion to you Mark is to just fly across as it would be SO much easier and comfortable. It will cost US$846.00 if you book return to the Int'l or just US$ 423.00 if you go one way. If you need help with this I can assist with the reservation.

Hi, trina I would suggest the Orange Walk area. There is a lot to offer there. In particular there is the Lamanai Outpost lodge that offers exactly what you're looking for. You can contact me if you need more info at [email protected]

With that many people you could charter your group's own boat & ride at your convenience. It would be more than the taxi - but less than flying.
Taxis are first come first serve - no guarantee of seating. //AmbergrisCaye.com/pages/town/quick.html

Could someone chum in here and give us a little bit better of an idea, as to what to expect at the marine terminal and the trip to CC? We will be taking a land taxi from the Int. Airport on 5/30.
Thanks

I'd talk to the folks at Thunderbolt. they can do a charter trip, and answer all your questions.

Conrad and Kathy,

The water taxi situation is a bit up in the air now, with some of the boats planning on leaving from the Fort Point Tourist Village and others, the Caye Caulker Water Taxi boats, apparently staying at the Marine. That should all shake out in a couple of months.

But if you go are going to Caye Caulker, the CC Water Taxi boats are the way to go,as they have many departures a day to CC from the Marine Terminal. Just tell your taxi where you want to go and he'll drop you at the door of the Terminal. That part of town can be pretty busy, and sometimes there are some street hustlers around, but just go in, buy your ticket (US$7.50 to CC) and you can wait in the waiting room, which is an open-air room on the river in view of the famous Swing Bridge. If you have some extra time, you can go to one of the little museums in the Terminal. Or, if someone can watch your luggage, you can walk around Front Street. When the boat is ready to go, you'll have some help getting your luggage in. The CC Water Taxi boats hold maybe 25 people and are fast open boats usually with twin outboards.

Why not fly from the Municipal. The taxi from the international to the municipal takes about 10 minutes and costs about $25Bz and you can get at least 4 sometimes more in depending on the vehicle. And the return flight to San Pedro is $52US.

Thank you Lan, the rest of our trip will be "puddle jumping" around the country and we wanted to experience the boat ride out.
Could you help me with one more little detail. Appr. how long of a taxi ride is it from the Intl. Airport to the marine terminal and what should we expect to pay for the land taxi?
Thanks
