From Airfarewatchdog.com:

American has a fantastic promotion going on right now to Latin America, with 25% off all flights from the Continental US to... Belize City... (as well as other S. and C. America destinations). This deal is available for travel from January 22, 2008 through May 14, 2008. Given the extended travel window, the lack of any other restrictions on this fare, and the 25% discount, it's one of the best we've seen yet from American. Reservations must be made via the American Airlines website using the promotion code DFSPRLAT08 by February 5, 2008.

I haven't tried to see what the exact prices are yet, so I can't guarantee that the deal is as fantastic as it appears at first glance. --J

OK, I did my comparison. STL-BZE was running $616 on AA; with this sale it is $570. AA says this is a savings of $96 on the fare, but my calculations say only a $46 savings from prices last week. Still, it hasn't been under $600 for quite a while, although this price is still not close to 25% off.

Cakelee,, Thanks for the heads up on AA. I tried it from Kansas City during February and got the same r/t price with or without the promotion code. Sometimes these things are "city sensitive".
The price was $716.10 r/t. Continental from Kc.Mo. is about $100 less @ regular price.

I'll be happy to discuss my avatar with anyone who knows what it is.

booked exactly 4 weeks ago to the day, for travel dates 2/1 rt 2/10 2008, chicago thru dallas to belize city....

476.50 usd/pp with taxes

pretty good deal as tickets were running over 700usd.

best deals seem to come up 4 to 6 weeks before travel dates from my experience.

You're welcome. Hopefully someone can benefit, maybe someone close to an AA hub.

Still hoping for a sale in June...

I put in a few more dates, and most came back around $570, but there were a few out there for $498 all in.

Does anyone know - do you still have to pay the departure tax when you leave with AA?

My son and his girlfriend flew AA in early January and had to pay the departure tax. We were on Continental and it was included in the ticket price.

Everybody pays the fee just done differently on AA it does not charge fee on the ticket, you pay on departure at the passport control desk when you leave !! Continental charges it on the ticket you pay them when booking in the total charges and stamps your bording pass paid ..Six of one half a dozen of another.
