We are a group of eleven. Most of us have been 3 times. Only one dives. We all love snorkeling. We are looking at doing something different. We have gone in mainland by van but would like to try a boat ride up the river and see a different side of Belize. Any suggestions on a tour would be appreciated.

Daniel at Tanisha Tours does a wonderful job, if you are nice he might let you help him drive the boat even.

How can I get into touch with Daniel @ Tanisha Tours. I will check the web. We will arrive in Belize City on 1/25 and will be staying there for mission work and will be on AC 1/30 for some R & R. Thanks for the tip.

Becky after I posted my reply I found Tanisha Tours web site. It sounds just like what we are looking for. We all are in love with Belize and each trip we are thirsty for more and this sounds like what we need. Thanks again.

There are a number of boats that do trips daily to the mainland for different tours. You can easily book a trip the day before you want by checking with any of the many tour operators located on AC. If you are staying close to banyan bay, the dive shop on their pier has a discription of the different tours available and can book one for you. It is a good idea to wait until you there and choose a good day weather wise for your tour. Good luck.

Warren-
We will be staying just north of the cementary in San Pedro. What land mark is near Banyan Bay? Thanks for the help. We'd rather charter for our group and spend a little extra in 1/2 day trip verses a whole day due to the limited time on AC.

Searious on AC has a first class trip to Lamanai--which is one of the Mayan ruins. You take a boat to a little village in the mangroves (you can get great wood carvings directly from the artisans for great prices in the village). Than you ride a school bus on the OLD pan-American highway to the NEW pan-American Highway until you come to the New River where you board another boat and take it to Lamanai. We saw lots of birds of all types, and crocs! The ruins are also great. We saw a toucan and black howler monkeys. Also the guy who gave us the tour of Lamanai new a lot, was a good speaker and enjoyed his job. You reverse the trip to get home. It was the about the best day we spent in Belize.
