Is it possible to book a day trip just to Maruba and not the ruins? I have seen them before and I only want to go to Maruba for the spa and I was wondering if it is possible.

Also - anyone had a massage there or any other treatment they can comment on?

Everyone else that I've seen comment on the massages at Maruba rave about them. For myself, it was the worst and most expensive massage I've ever had and I've had plenty other places. The one thing that was kind of interesting was that I had the honey/sugar rub. It was quite sticky and so I needed to be bathed afterwards.

I was sent into a little bathing hut that was very cute and a woman came in and sponged me off all over. Like I said interesting but sure nothing I would go out of my way for again.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

Also, our gang all came back to the island with dozens of really, really itchy insect bites. We had treat with Benadryl and cortisone cream. On the upside, that treatment worked pretty well and almost immediately.

Maruba does day spa packages where people come from Ambergris for the day and do treatments. You can contact them via e-mail direct for a quote on what you want or you can arrange it when in San Pedro by contacting Alexandra Nicholson at 226-3770. She lives in San Pedro and is part of the family that owns Maruba. She also does treatments there on Ambergris.

If you go, keep in mind you are going to the jungle in the rain forest. There are all kinds of creatures living there and if you are not smart enough to take precautions, like using insect repellant, you might get a bite. laugh

PS: we are also coming into the pica pica season, so keep that in mind when diving or snorkeling.

Best to call Maruba - 1-800-MARUBA-7. I have never had them answer an email. I am sure you can arrange a day trip.
