Hello from Louisiana,
I am new to this message board! My husband and I are going to Belize on the 27th of this month with another couple. We are staying at Journey's End. We were told by the travel agent that this was a very nice property, however, I have read some really bad things about it in the last few days. Needless to say we are pretty sad about this! I have read some posting on this board about the resort, but most are from a while back. Has anyone been there recently that can offer us some warnings, good news, anything!! Thanks

Journey's End is OK. Not great (like it was at one time) but if you've already paid for it and are committed, you will be fine there. Nice beach! Better anywhere in Belize than not in Belize at all!!!

You are correct about that, beaches in Louisiana are nothing to brag about. Thanks a bunch! I have booked with this agent before and she has been reputable, but I guess everyone has their moments.

A lot of travel agents, probably 99% of them, really aren't current on Belize. Most have never been to Belize or if they have know only a few hotels. Barbara is one agent that does know Belize intimately.

About Journey's End: Yeah, it's not one of the top places on the island. And it seems to be going downhill a bit. Absentee ownership will do that. But it's not terrible, and it has some pluses, such as the proximity to the reef, a decent beach and a relaxed atmosphere, and if you go with a good attitude it'll work out fine.

Thanks Lan, I do try to keep up on things. "Intimately," I like that!

It looks run down and I hear that the water has a very strong sulpher smell. Some complain about this in the showers and so forth.
This place need a face lift.

Lan - were you just flying back from Belize on 5/8? I swear I saw you in the airport.
