We're going to Ambergis Caye for the first time. We have reservations at Tropica Resort. Lately I seen some not-so-go reports about the Tropica. Has anyone stayed there recently? Anyone got any first hand info about the Tropica? It's too late to change my reservations, but I'd like to have a idea of what to expect. Thanks

hi lem...

don't know anything about the accomodations there...it looks a little rustic from the outside...but it is in a nice location...with the mar del tumbo beach being one of the better swimming locations...and it's an easy walk to town along the beach...lots of places to eat nearby or within walking distance...

i'm sure you'll have a great time...the view is wonderful...you'll KNOW you're in paradise!

hi mikell

Thanks for the info. We heard that the beach was one of the best on the caye, but just got a little concerned when we read some reviews about the accommodations. But...Hey...We'll just spend more time on the beach. Who wants stay in the room when paradise right outside your door.

We were thinking about doing some fishing. Got any suggestions for a good guide??

Lem,
No first hand knowledge about the rooms, but a gal who works with my wife stayed there and was a little disappointed with the place. They were still able to enjoy AC, and had a great trip anyway. As for fishing try one of these two guides,Juan Alamilla(501-226-2009) or Pancho Verde(501-226-2104) we have fished with them for years and had great sucess. Have a good trip!!

Timo,
Thanks, I'll give them a call. Do you know if there are any areas on the southend where I can do some un-guided fishing?

The rooms at Tropica are a bit small but over all the place is pretty good. They have had some problems in the past but the new management seems to be working out well. Great beach!

Lem,

Don't know of any myself, but read reports of others who have fished from shore or waded out on their own. Some resorts might let you fish from their piers but you would probably need to check with them first. Sorry... couldn't give you more help.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the info. I got a fishing guide set up and we're working on setting up some snorkle tours. I'm really looking foward to the trip. I'll let you know how it went.

Lem
