Hey Larry, you seem to know Xanadu well, soooo any tips on grub and cool beverages close by would be greatly appreciated. I'll be there in a week and a half. Thanks, javaman

Only in the sense that we recently stayed there 10 days. The best close grub was at Ricos in Banyan Bay. About 3 docks south on the beach from Xanadu. Fantastic lobster! Marinas market at the end of the driveway has all you need in the way of foodstuffs, beer, rum and accessories. The entire town is only a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute cab ride away. Not far from anything.

El Divino at the Banana Beach resort has really great food too!!!! I had lobster and the others that I went with had a filet and lobster. No one left there hungry or disappointed.

We stayed at the Xanadu for two weeks last summer also.
In addition to Rico's we also liked Rasta Pasta (although now that I mention it - I think they are closed on AC)and a little place called George's - great breakfast and inexpensive.
If you ask Susan or Martin they will have some good/honest suggestions for whatever you are looking for.

Does Xanadu have in-room coffeemakers? The Javaman has to know what provisions to bring. And if the "twinrailers" can respond i might have a little extra "organic" special roast available. Call it a Bluelight special.

javaman,

I would be shocked if Xanudu did not have coffeemakers. For some local flavor pick up a pound of Gallon Jug coffee and give it a try. Just check the package to make sure it's ground and not just the beans. Same price either way, about $3.50 US. Marina's should have it. Don't bother with filters for the coffeemaker, there are usually some left over in the rooms. If not, Marina's once again.

The filters are also quite helpful should one become seriously desperate, or perhaps just curious, and have to resort to the locally distilled vodka (specifically "Czar"). Run the stuff through a couple times and it removes most of the particulates floating in the bottle.

If the opportunity arises drop me an e-mail. "She Whom Must Be Obeyed" and I are quite interested in getting some information about Moorea.

"Bluelight Special"--interesting.

Xanadu has coffemakers, microwave oven, 4 burner stove with a real oven, full size refrigerator, toaster oven, you name it. As well equipped as my kitchen at home, only it's cleaner and the native woodwork is nicer.
Also had a hair dryer.
