Want to come to Belize (my first time) and celebrate my 30th Anniversary later this month. Any recommendations on a place to stay? Love to do some snorkeling and some fishing, but mainly just relax and enjoy the beach.

Happy Anniversary early wyowind and to your partner in life as well! You may want to check out the lodging page first or state what your "wants and needs" may be.
Price range, North, South, pool, nightlife, kitchen, bla bla bla.
The post what places look interesting to you and all here will be happy to give their opinions! wink

Thanks denverdan. I will check out the lodging page. Hey, are you from down the road from us in Denver, CO?
I wish I could be more specific, but I've never been to Belize so I'm not sure what to ask on location. We are hoping to come on the 27th and stay about 5 days. I love the beach, love to sail (kind of scouting out location for sailing next year), love to fish, don't want the high rise hotel scene, a pool would be a nice plus, A/C would be nice, don't need kitchen and can't really afford the $200+/night places. Just looking for a break from the mountains to the sea.

denverdan's suggestion is on the mark. No high rises to speak of in San Pedro. My personal favorite is Banana Beach. One of the best beaches on the island, 2 great pools, a full breakfast daily is included in the deal, great bar and restaurant on site, the staff is great, they can set you up with excursions, trips whatever, even the rooms w/o kitchens have a fridge and a coffee pot and all the rooms have A/C. It's about a 20 minute walk from town where all the action is, so close enough to get there but far enough to have some distance.

The owner's a little odd, but you can usually avoid him. (Just kidding Tim, you know I love you! laugh )

We did live in Denver for quite some time but not anymore. There are a few people on the board from your area though!
Me and mine (lol) have been married "22 fun filled wonderful years" (that's been drilled into my head, sorry) and I/we personally would stay South or near town when on the Island.
How long will you be in Belize? Lots of stuff to do on the mainland as well!

Lawcucui and Sandra,I looked at their site and it looks perfect for what we are looking for. Is the beach area very busy?

We have stayed at BB 3 times and love it. The beach is really nice. You can always find a chair to lounge. Just be careful that they aren't under the coconut trees! There aren't alot of waves in the A/C due to the reef. You will love it. The people at BB are so nice and very helpful. The is a little store close to there that you can buy water and other items that you might need. Monkey Business is located on the premises. They are excellent at scheduling snorkling trips, etc. for you.

Oh, the breakfast-- outstanding!

Wherever you decide to stay, try to get up early one morning and watch the sun rise. It will amaze you!

Good Luck....and Congratulations
