Is there an internet cafe on the island? Ideally I want to bring my MacBook and surf wirelessly. Is this service available? If so, where? Thank you....5 more days!!!!

&nbsp jilco,
there's a computer rental shop on Front Street, about a block north of Ruby's. I believe it's called "Coconet", or some such.

There are 2 primary internet business's on front street.

At the south end there is Island Internet C@fe. They do not have wireless but can hook your Macbook up with Ethernet. The may have to make a temporary configuration change to the DNS settings. At least they do on PCs. Internet speeds were good. They also sell great coffee drinks. They play cool jazz radio in a quiet atmosphere.

At the North end there is what used to be Coconets. Recently it was sold so Im not sure what the name is now. They are right next to Manellys (best coconut ice cream ever). They have wi-fi but my limited experience was that the wi-fi was slow. They serve mixed drinks, beer and sodas. This also seems to be the place to overhear island gossip. The owners are very friendly.

I overheard one person say that their hotel offered free wi-fi but that it was so slow they gave up and went to the internet café.

They charged us for computer use when we went to print a flight ticket from their and their printer was not working.

I could understand if we had been checking our emails but all we did was open the airline email to print it and the owner could not print it so we went to leave and he said wait you owe me.

I can tell you tacoboy got pretty fired up at that.

(We both like the local boy who worked for him at the time he was a sweetheart)
