Hello,
Can anyone recommend a place to stay for about four months? My friend plans to arrive at the end of January and will be a solo female traveler. She's also hoping for something cheap and safe.
Thanks in advance!

Depending on what you're looking for, either Changes of Latitude or Belize Yacht Club are good options. Changes is a B&B so it would be just a room. Yacht club is next door and you could do a 1 bedroom condo -- the gals over at Changes can help you out w/them. I'm sure they'd be able to help you out w/something affordable for that amount of time. I just returned from a couple months there as a solo female traveler and it was a great option. The location is great - only 7 min. walk to the middle of town.

Well I guess the word 'cheap' means various things to various people . . . For me it means getting good value for money . . . I did a lot of research before booking an extended stay and found both CIL and Yacht club to have options worth looking at. I feel like even though it wasn't the cheapest place, I got good value for money.

Just putting it out there as an option as she's doing her research.

"Cheap" for four months means something at apartment rental level, not hotel. I think Pedro's is the only place that qualifies. They always have long term stayers there, which says something. It's where I'd go.

Well by cheap I mean she's not looking to pay the same kinds of prices she'd pay in the states. I know she balked at an $800/month rent.

Well of course not.

She'll have to pay more.

And it's still cheap by paradise standards.

I hope that someday we can put aside our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.
