I am heading down to Belize in late November and I am planning on diving the Blue Hole. The first few days I plan on driving down to Placencia and checking out some real estate there. Along the way I want to dive the Blue Hole, but I am not finding much on dive operations to the Blue Hole there. My question is, does anyone have any experience with a good dive operator in that area or should I just wait until I get to Ambergris and do an all day trip out of San Pedro?

One of the posts in this thread on Scubaboard says that Splash Diving in Placencia will do the Blue Hole if there are enough people who want it.

I have not yet been to Placencia so have no first hand knowledge, but from what I've seen in Ambergris Caye (where I've gone many times) you are more likely to find a boat going there because there is a larger pool of divers to service. Not all shops have boats for this kind of trip. I believe Ambergris Divers does it. I did it with Ecologic Divers.

Amogos del Mar has a very comfortable large boat, with an extremely well organized day. Most of the dive ops that don't have their own big boat book their divers onto the Amigos trip. I've been diving with them for many years.

I've been 40 plus times and send tourist divers to the Blue Hole on successful trips 4 or 5 times a week with Amigo's Del Mar. I trust them to do a safe trip and take good care of my people.

Thank you all. I think I will just plan for a full day trip when I get up to AC. Any good dive sites near Placencia I should try to see?

They aren't "near" but a standard trip will take you to some excellent sites. Check out Splash Divers.
