My new wife and I are considering going to Ambergris Caye as a belated honeymoon during New Year's. What is New Year's like on the island? We are looking for a resort type atmosphere where we can relax the majority of the time (pool, bar, and beach), but party occassionally and especially on New Year's Eve. Does anyone have any recommendations? It seems like we should try to be near San Pedro. We talked to a travel agent who recommended Ramon's Village, but I haven't seen it mentioned here very often. I also stumbled across the website for Mata Chica and they seem to have good reviews, but no pool [Linked Image].

I'll tell you what... The BEST New Years I have ever had was at Ramon's. However... I have been commissioned to put on a full scale Show,(full Band and Staging) at Fido's Courtyard that night. Now... If you really want what you mentioned, (pool, close to town, etc)...Ramon's is perfect. You can always catch my show before the big countdown at Ramon's. And if you're staying there, you only have to stumble a few yards and fall in bed! Hope to see you here!

We were at Ramon's for a New Years Eve Party one year and the whole town showed up! It was the first time I saw the San Pedranos walking faster than the tourists! I would not recommend staying there during the holiday unless you like loud partying crowds. New Years eve goes all night in
SP. Many mainland Belizeans take their holiday in SP too.
If budget is no problem Victory House is one very nice place with everything you request -but there are lots of nice places at all price ranges.
Mata Chica is up north of the river and requires a boatride to town.

Belize it!

The best New Year's I ever spent in my life was in SP and the party of the evening was definitely at Ramon's.

You can stay anywhere and still attend the party!

I shouldn't be making such a big deal out of this since I want to go back again this year and would like to be able to get some acco somewhere. If we all keep promoting this, there won't be any rooms left anywherefor us late bookers. (big grin)

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?
