Anybody know of people to ask/agencies to visit once I'm in AC to find an apt for six months or so? Is it hard or easy to find one? $300/month 1 bedroom reasonable or am I dreaming?

$300.00 US per month will not get you something like you are used to in North America. email me at [email protected] and I will send you my "2 cents" on reasonable digs.

Wait until you get there, and then look around. You will need to know in advance several things.
1. How quiet/noisy do you want your place.
2. How close/far away do you want to be.
3. How important is a view/beachfront
4. How much space do you need.
5. Do you need air-conditioning/fans

Ground floor places are convenient, but 2nd or 3rd floor will have more air circulation. Although prices are nothing like here in California you still get what you pay for. Since you will be taking it for 6 months you should get a break but I would guess between $400 & $500 per month minimum. The longer you commit for the better deal you can make.

When do you plan to go down?

I'll be there the 30th of this month - can hardly wait.

ScubaLdy,

I arrive in AC on the 31st and am staying at Ruby's. I'm not worried about views, beachfront, etc. just want a place to sleep thats clean for low cost.

Thanks smile

There used to be this place called Iguana Gardens that offered decent looking off the beach apartments at reasonable prices, but they were put up for sale and I don't what happened to them. Maybe somebody else can fill in the blanks. I am thinking their apartments were in the $500-$700 a month range, but not 100% sure on that.

Iguana Gardens, were still for sale when I was there last week, looked somewhat diserted and run down. Go down first and check out places first hand.

What kind of a place could you get for $600-$800 per month? looking for a two bedroom for a family..is it possible to get something fairly nice or what prices should we be considering? Anyone have a house or condo they'd like to rent? Even a large one bedroom as we can't seem to get our kids out of our bed anyways (3-1/2 & 11 months) laugh

Try talking to Mary Hawthorne at Caye Management, she usually has a number of apartments to rent (I got mine through her, $600US 1 bedroom, semi-furnished on the beach). www.cayemanagement.com or [email protected]
