Well, the church schools are subsidized by the government (public)

I have not been here that long but yes from what I understand all schools get public assistance.
My children attend Island Academy not sure they get any??
I know even at Holly Cross the Government pays for the teachers but they raise money for things like the free food, books.. . they have and for kids that can't pay for their uniforms they pay for them.
I know most schools can not be fully supported by the Government all need to raise money for more books and such. Even in high school the children have to pay something to attend school. It is not much but not all children attend school if they do not have money they can't go. Many children go to work after 8th (US) grade.

I used to have a list of 5 schools from the recycling parade but have not been able to locate it. Will keep looking.

Thanks we're coming down the first week in Dec. We'll be traveling light so I thought we'd have room to bring down some school supplies. I sounds like the local schools can use all the help they can get. I'll start with the Holycross site.

Any problems with getting school supplies through customs at the airport?

Thanks All

I think its great that you are planning to do this.
If there are extra supplies, you may want to check out Isla Bonita Elementary. I think its a wonderful school and I know they would appreciate anything you have to offer.
Here is the link to their wish list and contact info.
Thanks again.

i've personally never had any problem bringing in stuff for the schools. they ask, i tell them pencils & paper for the school, and they go, 'ok'.

if you have room, SAGA, their humane society, always needs stuff too:
