A local gentleman who is on dialysis is in need of a supply of donated blood.

Blood type needed - "O" positive.

The blood bank needs about 3 units held in storage for him in order to meet his needs when emergency treatments are required.

When a girl in Caye Caulker desperately needed blood this gentlemen donated a number of his blood bank "credits" so that she could get treatment immediately. This blood now needs to be replaced.

Donated blood has a short "shelf" life so there is a constant demand. O positive (I believe) is the most common blood type. This is the universal blood type and is used on a daily basis at the hospitals. It becomes a lot more complicated when people have rare blood types - these are in urgent demand at the blood bank.

Please, if you can give some blood at the Belize City blood bank please do it and Call Elsita Young at 610 1967 to get the right credits to the right patient.

I believe that The San Pedro Health Fair to be held this Saturday the 8th at Central Park will be accepting blood donations too - right here on the island.
