Hello forum,
I have been a regular to San Pedro since 2005 or so and love the town and love Ambergris Caye. Unfortunately, this year because my timeshare company (RCI) has no availability I have to venture to some other place. I'd prefer to visit the Caribbean and I'd like to visit an area that is similar to San Pedro, i.e. great place to walk with many different types of bars, restaurants close by, and mostly not a "corporate" type of feel. I find many resorts to be gigantic and impersonal. One of the reasons why I love going to San Pedro is that is feel warm, and friendly and you can interact with locals very easily.
So, I'm hoping folks on this forum can offer some advice on any other places in the Caribbean that have that "San Pedro" feel. If I go to say, Aruba, the Virgin Islands, St Maarten, D.R., P.R. etc, will I find a gem like San Pedro? Thanks!

West End, Roatan, Honduras

Agree with Clover. West End is the closest I've run across, but it is much smaller and more quaint. I might also be able to point you at a few places to stay too or at least, if and when you make a pick, let you know what I can about your choice.

Sadly, there are no places available for all of 2013 in Belize.

I'll check out Honduras to see if they have places available. I've heard there is good diving there as well which is a plus.

Try Utila. It has great diving and a culture very similar to SanPedro
