Ramon's is fine, as long as you understand what it is and is not. It's not a few cabanas on a quiet beach. The resort is one of the oldest hotels on the island and over the years it's expanded to around 60 units, quite a few for the space. It's very conveniently located at the south end of town, across from the air strip. You can walk to most everything.
The suites vary from deluxe to a lot less so.
The pool is beautiful, the beach is about the best in or near town (but not the best on the island), and the bar is popular. In fact the whole place is popular, especially with younger more active people.
Ramon's does a good job of marketing and is popular with travel agents; indeed, some agents know only one hotel on the island -- Ramon's.
Some people think it's all a little pricey for what you get, but as I say most guests, especially first timers to Belize who get a kick out of the sand and thatch ambiance, seem to enjoy it a lot.
Anyway, that's my shilling's worth.
