And, also leaving the country today for the eastern Caribbean, was Belize's National Football team. Belize is scheduled to play Grenada on Thursday of this week, in the second round of the World Cup qualifiers, leading up to the Brazil Games of 2014. Belize advanced to the second round after beating Montserrat last month in the first round of qualifying games. On its return from Grenada, the team is scheduled to play Guatemala at home on Tuesday, September 6th, at the FFB field in Belmopan.

Belize Wins!

[Linked Image] Belize's National Football Selection has scored another win in the second round of the World Cup qualifiers. In a convincing victory today, Belize stunned home team Grenada with a 3 to nil defeat delivered in Grenada's National stadium located in St. Georges. Midfielders, Deon McCaulay and Harrison "Kafu" Roches celebrated their winning goals in this photo capturing that all important moment today.

McCaulay scored the game's first goal in the 11th minute of the first half, while Roches scored the team's second goal in the 35th minute of the first half. McCaulay then went on to score the final goal of the game in the second half of the game.

The National Selection is riding a thre game international winning streak led by the celebrated Honduran coach Chelato Ucles. Team Belize's next world cup qualifier is scheduled for next Tuesday, September 6th, when it is scheduled to play Guatemala at home at the FFB field in Belmopan - the first major international match at the country's only FIFA approved facility.

The game will be played at 4:00 p.m. and tickets are available now on sale at Infotel International in Belize city, the FFB Office in Belmopan, Shell One Stop Gas Station in Ornage Walk, Kush International Salon in Dangriga, OYE Radio in Cayo, and Raynord Garbutt in Santa Elena.

And as a sidebar, we note the change of tone from the Ministry of Sports which has now embraced the national team after FIFA disciplined the FFB. A statement from sports minister John Saldivar says that the Ministry encourages all Belizeans to come out and support the Belize National Selection on Tuesday�..
