Hi Folks,
Being an AC rookie, (first trip in June) I was wondering if Phone Cards back to the states work, also what about cell Phones? It's not that I must always be in touch, it's just that I want to make sure all of my friends back in Colorado know how much fun I'm having, the jelousy factor you know!

Larry,
US phone cards don't work (in my experience). Go to the BTL office on front street, where you can buy phone cards that work (also available in most gift shops), and they have phones there in the office that you can use. Be advised that it is not cheap, and your minutes will run out fast. Where are you staying? They might have phones available there, but you will still have to buy the cards.

I *think* you can also rent a cell phone at BTL, but not sure the cost.

You can also have your own cell phone programmed at the BTL office to work in AC. Also not sure of the cost.

If you are just making a few calls, the cards are probably your best bet.

Kathy

I brought a U.S. phone card with me and used it, calling from my hotel. It worked just fine, but the minutes go fast!

I used MCI calling cards on my last trip in February. Got 'em at COSTCO and they worked great, even from the phone booths in SP. Just ask for MCI operator assistance and they'll put you through.

hmmmm....
We either had the wrong card, or were not using it properly!
I stand corrected!
