When I was in SP last month there were still 2 artists making the painted fish. They are still located in the same places as they were 4 or 5 years ago. The one that I found open on the day I visited was up near the bridge. He is about a block south on the left side of the road as you approach the bridge heading north. I can't remember the artist name, but he also told me that Popo is also still making the painted fish. His place is on middle street and behind another storefront. He was closed when I was there and I didn't have time to ask around. He has a sign which can be seen on the street. Their fish are slightly different, the way there cut the tail, one is more round than the other.

Shuffles is right, the guy at the bridge is Rene Guerra 605-2933. I have quite a few of his fish from over the years. I got the phone # number from a pic I took of his sign but it could be 5 or 6 years old so I can't vouch for its accuracy.

I've already told you more than I know.

Now that someone's mentioned his name I can remember him telling it to me. A few years ago I also saw the painted fish in The Little Old Craft Shop which is now on Coconut Drive near the BYC. Ricardo's (the owner of the LOCS) number is 226-3155, he might also know the particular artist you bought from.
