"The purpose of Mama Vilma's Family Home is to provide disenfranchised families and children with housing, food, medical care, counseling, and education to connect them with the San Pedro Community and assist them with building a strong family unit. The goals and objectives of Mama Vilma Family Home are to:
1) Secure a building to be opened initially as a 28 bed facility focusing on the physical and emotional needs of children, women, families and men.
2) Collect, coordinate and disseminate knowledge and educate clients and the community about the causes, prevalence and treatment of child and family abuse
3) Promote awareness of child and family abuse through education and to motivate the public to seek services for early detection of abuse and other related family concerns."

Please come out and support this worthy, vitally important, and incredibly ambitious cause!

AND a lot of other things. Especially Moose's kids kite flying contest. The first year Moose did this I don't recall there being any activing except an Easter Egg Hunt. Then last yer there were a lot of groups jumping on the band-wagon. OH well - that's the nature of the beast!

That is the great thing about San Pedro, events happening all the time. Nothing will clash, as there will be extra visitors on the island this weekend. I wish everyone luck in their events and fundraising efforts. All very good causes, please support them all.

Personally, i dont see any clashes. First, there are many different events, people do pub crawls, how about a Fundraiser crawl! All the events will be raising money through bar sales, food sales and other events, not to mention GREAT times with friends and FUN stuff for kids.

Besides, everyones heart strings are pulled by different causes and charities. Who's to judge?

Not only do i see it as "not a clash" and most definitely not the negative implication of being the "nature of the beast". I see it more as how people go shopping in an area where there are lots of antique shops...you make a day of it, go "antiquing" for the day.

So, this Sunday, you can say to yourself, your dog, your kids, your friends, your spouse or partner:

Let's go "Fundraising" for the day!
or
Let's go "Socializing" for the day!
or
Let's go "Do Fun Things With The Kids" for the day!

most importantly, let's not chose to see all this amazing outpouring of social conscience as a competition. Let's go "Look on the Positive Side" for the day instead smile

Moose's Kite Flying Contest is NOT a fund-raiser....just a competition for kids.
