I'm headed to AC in the begining of March for a week long dive trip. We'll be there for 9 days with 7 days of diving, two tank morning trip. Can anybody give me a range of the water temps that time of year? I'm always cold in the water so I'd hate to leave the wrong suit home. Thanks

Wrong section for this topic. But I'd recommend a 3mm long suit for any time of the year, and certainly then.

I second that. And if you always get cold, why not wear a light hood, or a bandana on your head? You'll be surprised how much warmer that keeps you.

i dont think you will need one it doesn't get below 80 usually but it wouldn't hurt to bring a spring suit you may be really hot in a full wetsuit with a cap.

The water temperature will be between 80 and 82 - almost all year. There are people who get cold and you may be one of them. A lot of you thin people (I'm told you don't like to be called skinny) get cold in anything under 98.6. LOL I have to admit that this last week I resorted to a skin equal to 2 mil and was glad I had it on.
There are several options but basically a 3 mil will do - shorty or long. Although a hood may sound silly it is not. They actually make warm water hoods. The idea is just to not loose heat out through the top of your head. The other option is to add a vest over your 3 mil.
And the most important - which is very hard to get people to do - TAKE IT OFF AS SOON AS YOU GET ON THE BOAT!
Just because you get hot in a wet suit when it is dry does not equate to it keeping you warm when it is wet. Take it off and put on a wind breaker. You will be shocked at how fast that will warm you up.

I only meant that if you look you'll find all other enquiries re diving etc in the "about AC" section.

Hi Isis,
I use a 3mm shorty year 'round. It's never too much suit and it's easy to get out of when going ashore. You might bring along a shower cap or neoprene "beanie" to keep your noggin warm. As you know, once your head get's cold your body's cold. Happy diving.

Isis - I assume you are a female by the name. I would recommend at least a 3mm suit but if you have a 5mm you would probably be happier and toastier. Women tend to get colder than guys or are just more vocal wink You can always flood the suit to cool down. If you have just a 3mm look at layering with a vest or a core warmer. Also a beanie is indispensable. Look at the Henderson Gold Core 3mm Tropic Beanie. Also, opt for a full wetsuit as they protect the extremities from abrasions, etc. I had a shorty on last year and got stung by something right below the sleeve on my arm. I agree with Scubalady too, dry off between dives and get out of the wetsuit. Just my 2 cents

My wife always gets cold and has been using a 1.5 mm skin for several years there ok. Her arms get cold so no shorty. I usually just use a skin. I use the skin for protection also. Have been stung also. And also take your wetsuit top down and dry off between dives. I have to remind my wife all the time. It is a little chilly right off but after you are dry it is better.
