Just took this off Pedros Blog site. It makes sense to me.
Comments?

"Dawn at 5.00am in Belize Does anyone agree with the Ambergris Daily that it is totally ridiculous to witness the sun rising at 5.00am and the sun setting at 6.30pm.

The government should listen to the people and push the clocks forward 2 hours and leave it that way for good.

The advatages are that residents electric bills would be vastly reduced as there would be no need to have lights on. it would be great for kids who could and should be able to play outside after finishing their homework. At the moment all they can do is play computer games which is not an ideal way to grow up."

Daylight savings time is Ludicrous. Ben Franklin was joking when he suggested it!
We live in the tropics anyway and don't have to get up and go home in the dark because of our Latitude.
Besides, what would Peter know about 5am he hasn't see 5am since he came to the island!

bad idea i think. i love Belize not doing daylight savings time. i wish the whole globe would turn it off. but thats just my opinion. many others probably feel differently.

On our PRO Belize list it specifically notes the 'No Daylight Savings' as a benefit.....I like what Elbert said....Ludicrous

love this exchange earlier in the week between two friends....

Subject: USA time change

USA time change today, caught me flatfooted. In trading.

=========

Dude! It happened on Sunday at 2:00 AM. It happens every year and every year you say the same thing!

================

Grin! What can I say. I live in Belize mon! I tell the time by the sunrise. Or the position of the moon in the sky at night. Don´t have any clocks, or at least none that work.

I would love to see Belize time move forward one hour (year-round, NOT back and forth as with DST). It does get light awfully early and dark awfully early too. Love to eat dinner outside before it gets totally dark, and that is difficult here. And I'd love if I could get my morning run in before the sun gets so high and hot. I know, I know, I could certainly get up an hour earlier, but I'm just not a very early riser. 7 am is early for me!

So, I do have to say I agree with Pedro/Peter on this one! blush

No place is all good. Are only positive comments about Belize allowed here? I guess that's the case.

It makes sense to me also since economics is what Pedro likened it to. Anything to conserve and lessen daily costs is ok by me. I can't see a downside.

Ditto, champion. And I recently read an article online about DST in the US that stated that while it was originally supposed to be an energy saver, in most states it is now more energy costly than if it were abolished completely.
