Was Belize and A.C. hit by one of the last hurricanes?
I don't think so, but someone at work keeps inssiting that it was, and that iwas really bad!

The hurricane didn't hit Belize but we were affected by feeder band rains. There was a fair amount of rain which caused some flooding in the Orange Walk district but here on the island we had much less. No wind damage that I've heard of.

Guatemala and Mexico were the hardest hit.

so far - so good... did not hit the island.

AC hasn't been hit by a hurricane since 2000, though there have been a few biggish storms that have done some damage.

Lest we forget: October 8, 2001 - Hurricane Iris hit Monkey River, Placencia, Seine Bight and Independence. 20 divers were killed aboard a live-aboard boat and 31 people in total were killed by the hurricane.

I didn't know there had been a hurricane until I got back to the US and heard the news. Looked like just the same old rainy season stuff to me.

Absolutely right, Simon. The deaths on the dive boat were of course totally avoidable and due to incompetence.
