Mostly sunny skies today and fair tonight. Temperature will reach high 80 degrees F after midday. Surface winds will blow 8 to 18 Kts from the East to Southeast. The sea state will be choppy to moderate with 5 to 6 foot seas beyond the reef.
The outlook is for continuing cloudy skies through Monday.

THE UPPER LOW THAT WAS JUST N OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC HAS ELONGATED OVER THE PAST 6 HOURS AND NOW IS AN UPPER TROUGH THAT EXTENDS FROM THE W ATLC ACROSS HISPANIOLA INTO THE CENTRAL CARIBBEAN TO NEAR 15N76W. BROAD UPPER RIDGE OVER THE TROPICAL ATLC REMAINS GIVING THE E AND SW CARIBBEAN UPPER SW FLOW S OF A LINE FROM PUERTO RICO NEAR 18N66W TO COSTA RICA NEAR 10N82W.
STRONG SUBSIDENCE AND DRY UPPER AIR DOMINATE MOST OF THE CARIBBEAN
THE REMAINDER OF THE CARIBBEAN IS UNDER GENERALLY CLEAR SKIES WITH MODERATE/ STRONG EASTERLY TRADE WINDS. LITTLE CHANGE IS EXPECTED FOR MOST OF THE AREA WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE AFRICAN DUST THAT WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD WESTWARD.
Eastern Caribbean:
OVER THE AREA SURROUNDING THE LESSER ANTILLES TROPICAL MOISTURE IS BEING ADVECTED FROM OVER SOUTH AMERICA AND FROM THE E WITH THE EASTERLY TRADES.THIS IS GENERATING SCATTERED SHOWERS S OF 17N BETWEEN 58W-65W.
AFRICAN DUST IS MOVING INTO THE FAR E CARIBBEAN GIVING THE WINDWARD ISLANDS HAZY CONDITIONS.
VISIBILITIES HAVE BEEN REDUCED OVER THE SAME AREA DUE TO WIDESPREAD DUST ORIGINATING FROM AFRICA. BARBADOS IS REPORTING VISIBILITY AROUND 7 KM...OR 4 STATUE MILES...AND SEVERAL ISLANDS AROUND THE AREA HAVE REPORTED LOWER VALUES THROUGH THE DAY.

A DEEP LAYERED TROUGH EXTENDS OVER THE N CARIBBEAN FROM THE W ATLC N OF 15N BETWEEN 66W-81W WITH THE BROAD UPPER RIDGE OVER THE TROPICAL ATLC COVERING THE REMAINDER OF THE AREA. THIS IS CAUSING THE CARIBBEAN A MOSTLY SW UPPER FLOW.
STRONG SUBSIDENCE AND DRY UPPER AIR CONTINUES TO HAVE A FIRM HOLD OF THE AREA.
THE REMAINDER OF THE CARIBBEAN IS UNDER GENERALLY CLEAR SKIES WITH MODERATE/STRONG EASTERLY TRADE WINDS. LITTLE CHANGE IS EXPECTED FOR MOST OF THE AREA.
SEAS WILL GENERALLY RUN 4-6 FT THROUGH THE FORECAST PERIOD EXCEPT FOR A 7-8 FT NWLY SWELL TRAIN WHICH WILL MOVE INTO THE N PART OF THE AREA LATE FRI INTO SAT.

Central Caribbean:
A RIDGE IS OVER THE REMAINDER OF THE SEA PRODUCING SW FLOW. 15-20 KT TRADES ARE OVER THE CARIBBEAN SEA.
A GOOD AMOUNT OF UPPER LEVEL MOISTURE IS OVER COLOMBIA WHILE STRONG SUBSIDENCE IS OVER THE CARIBBEAN SEA.
GENERALLY LIGHT WINDS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE REST OF THE CARIBBEAN THROUGH SUN NIGHT...
Eastern Caribbean:
PATCHES OF BROKEN LOW CLOUDS AND SCATTERED SHOWERS ARE OVER PORTIONS OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS TO INCLUDE PUERTO RICO AND HISPANIOLA.
EXPECT...THE UPPER AIR PATTERN TO SHIFT E OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS WITH NO CHANGE IN THE SURFACE TRADES. THE BEST CHANCE OF SHOWERS WILL BE OVER THE WINDWARD AND LEEWARD ISLANDS.

TODAY'S WEATHER
A cold front with cloudy and windy conditions is approaching Belize and the Northwest Caribbean. Ambergris Caye, San Pedro and Caye Caulker will experience for the next 24 hrs:
Mostly sunny skies today and partly cloudy tonight. It will be hazy and dusty with the high temperature reaching upper 80 degrees F after midday. Today and tonight surface winds will blow 8 to 18 Kts from the Southeast.
The sea state will be light chop to choppy with 3 to 5 foot seas beyond the reef but will become moderate to rough with the frontal passage tomorrow morning .
Early tomorrow morning skies will become cloudy to overcast with increased Northerly winds 12 to 25 kts and widely scattered showers. Expect seas beyond the reef to become 8 to 11 ft beyond the reef.
The outlook is for cloudy skies and isolated showers on Saturday.

A cold front accompanied by cloudy skies and a few showers stretches from Northeast Gulf of Mexico to The Yucatan Peninsula and Belize. Ambergris Caye, San Pedro and Caye Caulker will experience for the next 24 hrs:
Mostly cloudy skies today and tonight with the chance of widely scattered showers. The high temperature will be around low to mid 80 degrees F after midday. Today winds will be light and variable but will shift to Northerly 10 to 20 Kts later this afternoon.

A few areas of precipitation will develop around the fringes of the Caribbean Sea Friday. First, showers and thunderstorms will develop in the southwest portion of the Sea near the coasts of Panama and Costa Rica.
Secondly, an area of precipitation will move down into the Bay of Campeche, bringing rain to northern Guatemala, the Yucatan Peninsula, and the general Bay of Campeche region.
Western Caribbean & Yucatan:
A MID-UPPER LEVEL HIGH IS CENTERED NEAR 9N60W WITH ITS WIDE ENVELOPE OF ANTICYCLONIC FLOW COVERING THE CARIBBEAN W OF 85W.
STRONG SUBSIDENCE IS WIDESPREAD ACROSS THE AREA E OF 85W S OF 17N. SHOWERS AND TSTMS ARE SCATTERED ACROSS COLUMBIA AND VENEZUELA.
A GOOD CHANCE OF RAIN IS EXPECTED IN THE NW CARIBBEAN LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONT IN THE GULF OF MEXICO. TRADES HAVE DECREASED WITH 20 KT WINDS CONFINED TO A SMALL AREA OVER THE SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN ALONG THE COAST OF COLOMBIA. FRONT TO ENTER THE NW PORTION AND YUCATAN CHANNEL AREA EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. WINDS AND SEAS TO QUICKLY INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON.
DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO VENTURE OUT THIS MORNING WITH THE LIGHT WINDS AND LOW SEAS BECAUSE THEY WILL BUILD VERY FAST AS WAS SEEN IN THE GULF OF MEXICO ON THURSDAY. MODERATE WINDS TO AFFECT MOST AREAS W OF 80W THROUGH THE WEEKEND BEHIND THE FRONT.
Central Caribbean:
MOISTURE IS FLOWING AROUND THE PERIPHERY OF THE UPPER HIGH AND BREAKING UP AS IT TRAVELS EASTWARD STAYING MOSTLY S OF 14N AND W OF 35W.
THERE ARE SOME PATCHES OF LOW CLOUDS WITH EMBEDDED ISOLATED SHOWERS QUICKLY MOVING ACROSS THE VIRGIN ISLANDS...PUERTO RICO AND HISPANIOLA. Eastern Caribbean:

TODAY'S WEATHER
A cold front stretches from eastern Cuba to the Honduras Northwest coast and cold air is affecting The Yucatan Peninsula and Belize. Ambergris Caye, San Pedro and Caye Caulker will experience for the next 24 hrs:
Mostly cloudy skies today and tonight with the chance of isolated showers. The high temperature will be around mid 70 degrees F after midday. Today winds will be light Northeasterly 10 to 20 Kts with gusts to 25 Kts.
The sea state will be moderate to rough with seas 8 to 11 feet beyond the reef.
**MARINE INTERESTS AND OPERATERS OF SMALL CRAFT ARE ADVISED TO USE CAUTION **
The outlook is for a return to sunny skies and less wind on Sunday and Monday.

AT THE SURFACE...A COLD FRONT EXTENDS FROM THE W ATLANTIC ACROSS THE SE BAHAMAS, EASTERN CUBA AND TO THE NW COAST OF HONDURAS.
BROKEN CLOUDS ARE MAINLY WITHIN 200 NM BEHIND THE FRONT.
COLD AIR STRATOCUMULUS CLOUDS ARE FILTERING IN BEHIND THE FRONT. THE COLD FRONT IN THE NW CARIBBEAN WILL CONTINUE TO SLOWLY PROPAGATE SEWARD AND WILL BE LOCATED FROM THE WINDWARD PASSAGE TO THE COAST OF NICARAGUA LATER TODAY.
THEREAFTER...THE FRONT WILL BECOME STATIONARY AND BEGIN TO LIFT TO THE NORTH OF THE AREA ON SUNDAY. Central Caribbean:
PERSISTENT SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE LOCATED OVER SOUTH AMERICA. SOME OF THIS MOISTURE IS FLOWING AROUND THE PERIPHERY OF THE UPPER HIGH BUT DRYING UP AS IT TRAVELS EASTWARD. MUCH OF THE MOISTURE IS CONTAINED S OF 16N AND W OF 30W.
ELSEWHERE...PATCHES OF LOW CLOUDS ARE SCATTERED ACROSS THE SEA WITH EMBEDDED ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS OVER THE VIRGIN ISLANDS...PUERTO RICO AND HISPANIOLA.
Eastern Caribbean:
A STRONG MID-UPPER LEVEL HIGH IS CENTERED NEAR 8N59W WITH ITS ANTICYCLONIC CIRCULATION COVERING NEARLY THE ENTIRE CARIBBEAN.
MODERATE TO STRONG SUBSIDENCE COVERS MUCH OF THE AREA N OF 17N WITH THE DRIEST AIR TO THE EAST OF THE ISLANDS.
