METEOROLOGIST SAYS THE EXTREME DRY SEASON WILL PASS:

Many people, especially farmers, are wondering when the extreme dry season and warm weather will pass, according to Meteorologist Dennis Gonguez more than likely it has. The forecast for the weekend calls for scattered showers countrywide, and this would mark the start of an early rainy season this year:

Gonguez:

If the present pattern persists then we can say we are going into the rainy season.

Marion:

With the severe dry season that we experienced and the rainy season coming sooner that we expected are these unusual?

Gonguez:

Yes, this year was unusually dry and it would not be rare that the rainy season would start right on time. We had a significant amount of rainfall last night around the country and all indications are that this pattern will persist and it should continue for a couple more days.

Marion:

With the rainy season coming so quickly can expect the hurricane season might have an unusual case where a hurricane can develop before June 1st?

Gonguez:

There is a possibility that we can expect a couple early season storms. For the last few years we had some late season storms and some early ones so it is quite possible this year that we could experience the same scenario.>/P>

Marion:

Is this attributed to the El Nino phenomenon?

Gonguez:

Indirectly yes, but the direct affects we are not sure o fat this time but it is something with the El Nino phenomenon.
