Belize Tourism Board Activates Emergency Website

Belize City, Belize - Monday, August 6, 2012 - In an attempt to ensure the safety and safeguard of all locals and visitors in Belize, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) would like to report that it is currently in the process of contacting all hotel properties throughout the country in order to obtain the most up-to-date information as it pertains to their respective emergency plans for Tropical Storm Ernesto.

The BTB encourages those persons attempting to reach family members or loved ones vacationing in Belize that may be experiencing communication difficulties, to visit the BTB's official emergency online site: www.belizeemergency.net. The website will provide the latest updates and information regarding any reported damages and restoration efforts.

For official information on the storm, please visit the Belize National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) website: www.nemo.org.bz.

A Hurricane Warning is currently in effect for the entire of the country of Belize; therefore, the BTB strongly encourages all guests to take proper precautions during this time.
