Should promote safety
The free and often fast flow of traffic makes for a potentially dangerous stretch of road along the Philip Goldson Highway leading up to the Haulover Creek Bridge. And there have regrettably been several pedestrian deaths along that route in 2012, the most recent being just last Friday near to the One Barrel Bar. Well the Ministry of Works and Transport is addressing the problem and have started the construction of two (2) Pedestrian Crossings near mile 2 on the Phillip Goldson Highway between Divine Mercy Church and Scotia Bank in Belize City. The construction of these two pedestrian crossings started over the weekend and is expected to be completed by Thursday of this week. Motorists are advised to take precaution and exercise patience when travelling along the route as works on the road will cause some obstruction to the normal flow of traffic.
