Over a dozen veterinarians from all over the country today began a four-day accreditation training course.

Opening ceremonies were held this morning at the conference room of the Faculty of Agriculture (University of Belize) in Central Farm.

The training is being conducted with funding provided by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

At the end of the course on Friday, the participants will be given a certificate, but organizers say they must continue the training regime as well as sign a contract with the Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA).

Included in the training are field trips to Spanish Lookout and Barton Creek farms where the participants will get hands on experience in taking samples for testing.

Dr. Miguel DePaz of BAHA explains the purpose of the accreditation training course.
