Delta Airlines and the Belize Tourism Board launch Travel Agent Sweepstakes

Belize City, Monday, September 6, 2004 - The Belize Tourism Board in collaboration with Delta Airlines is pleased to announce the Delta To Belize Sweepstakes. The Delta to Belize Sweepstakes is an on-line competition open to registered IATAN (International Airlines Travel Agent Network) travel agents who are permanent residents of the forty-eight neighboring continental United States and the District of Columbia.

The Sweepstakes is geared at increasing awareness of Delta's new service to Belize, among US travel agents. Travel agents continue to be a key intermediary in the travel and tourism industry and are very influential in booking vacations. The Sweepstakes is being promoted in key trade publications in the United States such as Travel Weekly, Recommend, Travel Agent and Travel Professional. It encourages travel agents to go on-line to the BTB's official travel agent entry website, http://www.travelbelize.org/winbelize.html, enroll in the Delta to Belize Sweepstakes and then enter all information that is prompted. One prospective winner will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries received. The sweepstakes began on September 1st, 2004 and ends December 31, 2004.

The grand prize package comprises of a trip for two to Belize, consisting of round-trip tickets on Delta Airlines from their gateway airport nearest the winner's residence, three nights hotel accommodations at Aqua Marina Suites in San Pedro, two nights hotel accommodations at Five Sisters Lodge in Mountain Pine Ridge, two nights hotel accommodations at Calico Jack's Village in Placencia, and air transfers to San Pedro and Placencia courtesy of Maya Island Air and Tropic Air. The approximate value of this prize is BZ$10,000.00.

"This is an outstanding opportunity for continuous and fruitful efforts between Delta Airlines and Belize," comments Tourism Director, Tracy Taegar-Panton. "This will not only keep agents more informed about Belize, but it will afford one of them to experience the product first hand. Additionally, the participation of the private sector for the Delta to Belize Sweepstakes is overwhelming and we look forward to continued future collaboration," Taegar went on to say.

Delta Airlines will begin offering customers non-stop flight on Saturdays only between its Atlanta, Georgia hub and Belize. The flights will leave Atlanta at 10:30 a.m. and arrive in Belize at 12:40 p.m. On its return, it will leave Belize at 2:15 p.m. to arrive in Atlanta at 6:10 p.m.
