Is it possible to rent a car in any city other than Belize City? I want to take the bus to San Ignacio, and possibly rent a car somewhere near there to take on a day excursion.

Yes, there are a couple of car rental agencies in San Ignacio -- Safe and Western.

Belize City car rental places will usually drop a car off to other parts of the country, but there is a drop fee to compensate them for employee time and expenses in taking the car to you.
