It has been several years since we last visited Ambergris. Does the water taxi still operate? I see something about the Coastal Express - has that replaced what was always called the water taxi?
There are 3 water taxi services that operate between Belize City - Caye Caulker - Ambergris Caye...
1. Caye Caulker Water Taxi Association:

MisterB. Are these owned by the same folks? Also would you recommend over the other? Just curious, I've been on two of the three.
I think the owner(s) of at least one of those must be the manager of fish packing plant too; I mos def felt like a sardine...doesn't seem like they're inclined to pull a second boat up even when the first is uncomfortably full.
I am intereted in the water taxi that takes you along the Amergris coast. The Coastal Express looks much different from the water taxi of 6-7 years ago so just wondered if this is now the only option.
Unfortunately yes, it is the only option unless you hire a private boat.
How safe is your luggage on these? I had read that some things get stolen while stowed . Is this true? Are there some taxis that are more reputable?
