Read todays San Pedro Daily about the goverments "come clean document". DISGUSTING mad

Also interesting about the US Swift Boat that is in Belize. But if the US really wanted to help Belize catch it's worst criminals, all they need is a taxi to Belmopan.

GoB has the country and taxpayers burden in debt. In a report prepared for the CDB, GoB had to come clean and reveal all its secret guarantees, including those to PUP families and cronies.

Interesting new revelations show that US$500,000 - a million Belize dollars - guaranteed for the Northern Fishermen Co-operative at the Belize Bank. Northern Fishermen Co-operative is chaired and managed by Prime Minister Said Musa's close relatives. The document also reveals a $2.1 Million Guarantee for Big Time PUP cronie Bill Lindo, W & S Engineering Ltd.

In terms of private sector guarantees, GoB has a US$16 million guaranteed as a buy back for the Port of Belize. That guarantee confirms it as a government-guaranteed privatization. The Port of Belize is owned by another BIG TIME PUP Cronie Luke Espat. Luke Espat's Port of Belize has been in the middle of controversy since its inception, and currently in dispute with the Stake Bank Project which, according to our source, will build another port. And of course there are still those two Intelco promissory notes that government is paying to the International Bank of Miami for its Intelco intercom system.

Said Musa's legacy of being the most Corrupted politician in Belize will he sealed in history. Said Musa and his PUP ministers have placed a huge burden on the people of Belize, a burden which will last generations to come. The PUP Government has proven to be one of corruption, dishonestly and secret deals to close PUP families and cronies.

I've never lived anywhere where people complain so much yet do so little. I've only experienced the present lot, but people tell me the others were just as bad. How do we stop the corruption?

It takes an independent legal system that holds them accountable to the law and the constitution. Until the people demand that just voting in the other party is not the answer, I am afraid.

Call upon the official Head of State! (civil unrest is required for that action).

Have politicians since independence perverted whatever constitution was left by the British, or was that defective to start with?
Posted By: dabunk Re: Goverments come clean document - 06/16/07 03:20 PM
They just ignore the constitution and the cronies do not enforce it.

Belize has its own constitution, written, and agreed to by a Belizean Government.

The constitution is not flawed, it is lack of enforcement.

Who is worse, the crooked politician or the supporter who re-elects the same based upon what the supporter can gain in the short term? Who will do what for me? F' the country where my kids will live! A big thanks to Colonialism!!!

The same politicians are recycled every five years. The PUP enjoyed the first re-election EVER as an independent Belize. Their time to rest is fast approaching. Yes, the electorate will probably enjoy voting out the fat cats and replace with another bag of trix, same game, different faces.

Comments on our Constitution and Gov't should be reserved for those that can step up to the plate and make a difference. Sitting, observing and throwing out comments will not make Belize a better place. You may feel smarter, to yourself. Look at our big brothers to the north!?

Get involved, share ideas, make a difference. Voting is just one way of supporting what you believe can shape the future of the growing nation. If your not part of the solution.......

Wow SIN: you really lambasted everyone from the people who elect the politicians, to the politicians, to the British, to anyone who has a comment on Belize, to the big brothers to the north. As far as I can see, the only one you left out was you. smile

I guess that is what is nice about being a US citizen as opposed to a Belizean, I never hear anyone comment on what might be wrong with my country. wink

Before I read Sin's comment about "look to the north" I was thinking this sounds like Bush / Cheney et.al. Same crap, another day. Sorry, not a intended pun about the present "poop-gate" going on now about turds in the Capital bldg. Bywarren is right, the laws must be enforced to stop the selling of our countries.

Who make the laws, lawyers. Who are politicians, lawyers. Who enforces the laws, lawyers.

Who gets into power? People who want power over others.

lambasted, is that from the 60's too?

1637, from lam (1595, ult. from O.N. lemja "to beat, to lame") + baste "to thrash."

Most villages, towns, cities and states "give" title to land to organizations who say they are willing to build a "Tax Base Property" on it and will employ "tax paying" people to run the facility. The governing entity usually receives a perpetual tax return from the transaction. I don't think it is a good plan to "sell" a very valuable piece of property, for a less than market price, to an organization that build on it and pay little or no taxes on it. It would seem that some of the words in the country's statutes, which would permit this, might bear some unbiased review. I wonder how that might happen.

Huh????

I believe SIN could have been referring to the PRI stranglehold on Mexico that ended with the election of PAN under Fox and now Calderon. It would have been a more than valid reference regarding neighbours to the north.
