Hi 6 of us will be in AC on the Jan25th to the 1st of feb. Was curious how safe is it traveling there with everything going on? I read on one of the post that the water was shut off on AC? Is this true, What else can we expect? It's are 1st time there any advice on what to pack or where the best tiki bars are at? I will not be scuba diving, plan to sun and party.
All input and advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks and have a great day!

It's safe, water is on, electricity is on, sunshine is ON!

yeah, it's completely safe. everything is on. and it is still extremely beautiful down here...

water was off on AC for a couple hours thur and fri as part of the businesses protesting higher taxes with not enough gov't accountability to how the tax dollars are spent. the civil unrest at the end of last week was a good thing, because it was related to people standing up for their rights, but the clashes in belmopan between protestors and police were obviously not, but it was an isolated incident you needn't worry about safety traveling down here.

as for packing, sandals, shorts, t-shirts for the day and lightweight gear at night. pants at night if you want but shorts will work too. BC's and Fido's are popular bars. Every night of the week a certain place is the spot, so just ask around and people will let you know where the most people will be hanging out. jaguar's and big daddy's for late night.

hope this helps...

it does not sound safe if you are planning to get a mammogram while you are there. pls read what can happen during possible power outages.
OH, BY THE WAY, IF ANYONE IS CONSIDERING NOT TAKING THEIR TRIP DUE TO POSSIBLE POLITICAL UNEASYNESS, I WILL GLADLY GO FOR YOU AND GIVE YOU A GOOD TRIP REPORT UPON MY RETURN!!! laugh
