Ok... need some help here. My trip to Belize has been extended by 1 day. My flight lands at approximately noon on Oct 9 and I'm not due at Banana Beach until sometime on October 10.

I thought I might spend that extra day on the mainland and do a tour but I'm not sure if the timing will work. What I'd really like to do is a day trip to Tikal... only $85 from Crystal Paradise in San Ignacio as opposed to $300 from AC. But.... is there any possible way to do that day trip and still make the last flight out at the end of the day, factoring in the extra time needed to pick up my luggage from the hotel, etc? Is this just wishful thinking on my part???

Relax, you sound like me on my first trip to Europe. You'll enjoy Tikal much more, if you go when you are not rushed. Besides do you really want to drag your bag to Tikal? Worry about getting there, then worry about getting to SP before the last flight. All that said I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question. Enjoy!!

I would suggest staying in Belize City and visiting the zoo which is a nice relaxing way to spend part of a day.

You could fly from BZE to Flores Guatamala on October 9. Tour Tikal on the 10th, then fly back and catch a flight to San Pedro. I checked Tropic Air's schedule, it's certainly doable, but not exactly cheap.

here is and other thought ?? plan A call tim[owner ] of the banana beach tell him you need a deal one day early oct is off season ,so should be no problem for him to put you up at a deal..or plan B go to biltmore best western hotel clean well run place . outside of town ,great pool ,good eats ,nice staff , take cab see zoo, fast drive/tour tru town back to hotel hang out by pool, drink lots of rum punch ..eat dinner a hotel and relax, relax ..Then next day a breakfast with fresh squeeze oj,, super hot steaming coffee with a side of fried jacks and guva jam yum ,yum it is ,a belize breakfast side dish.then fly out of muni airport down town save a few dollars from internationl price , also cabs are dirt cheap..go live the dream and enjoy..

See... this is why I love this board. So many great ideas.

Thanks, CaptJeff... I was actually thinking of the Biltmore but I wasn't sure how close/far it was in relation to downtown or other attractions. It sounds like it's relatively close, though, so I might just end up doing that. Besides the zoo, are there any other recommendations for things to do when staying in Belize City?
