We are bringing 3 kids along w/us and seems they are none too interested in the foods we've been raving about ~ johnny cakes, stew chicken/rice, burritos, lobster, conch ~ I could go on and on. Their requests are french fries, chicken nuggets, mac & cheese ~ that yucky American type stuff smile Can anyone tell me if we can find this and the best spots to frequent?

We will be bringing some items along and we've rented a house w/kitchen so we can make meals but we'd sure like to venture out a couple of nights and if we can't talk them into trying anything new, we need a fallback.

thanks!

My seven year old son loves breakfast at Estel's, ate noodles with butter and peanut butter sandwiches for lunch and managed to always find something good at dinner out. He ate a LOT of fruit during the day also. His favorite place on the island is Paulie's Pizza! He was such a good customer, Paulie gave him a t-shirt our last day. Don't worry...the three kids won't starve! Have a great trip! cool

All that yucky stuff can be found in town.

There are places to get burgers and fries (Fido's for one) and there's Pizza too. I don't think those kids will starve! laugh

thanks everyone! And boy do I agree about the johnny cakes ~ I've been jonesing for those for years now. Actually, I've decided not to worry about it, if they want to try something (good) so be it. If not, there's always peanut butter! smile

I promise they will love the fry jacks.

We just got back yesterday from AC! We thought Ruby's (in town) had the best Johnny Cakes. She just started making 'em with scrambled egg and bacon. Kinda like an Egg McMuffin (although SOOOO much better). You're kids will love them!

YUM i love their jonney cakes and with eggs and bacon it would DEFINATELY be better than an egg mcmuffin.

Definately will stop by their on a hangover day and try it...which could just be tomorrow since today is Sat. lol.

My suggestion for your children is the Fry Chicken with french fries at all of the Chinese restraunts for $5 BZ, each order is enough for 2 kids too.

The park also has WONDERFUL hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and bacon burgers.

If you go out to eat and want food at a sit down restraunt many places have chicken strips like chicken fingers/mcnuggest and fries.

Get there early. She runs out of eggs and bacon. You might just have to have one made with ham and cheese. Yummy either way!

get to Ruby's early for jonneycakes, tortillas, fry jacks too. they often run out by 8am. GREAT food.

Pizza is a great idea for the kids, too. And Pauly's also has many kinds of sub sandwiches.

What about chips and salsa for snacks.

Weekend the BBQ chicken in park or Lion's den.

Pork chops daily from papi's.

Manelle's has Nachos with cheese or nachos with cheese and beef(the kids here love that), great ice cream, and great custard at Dandee's.

The shakes in the park are awesome.

Peanut butter and jelly many places.

What else do kids like that they will miss and I will try to think where you can get it here/something similar.

KE, I see you are making the rounds laugh

lol, actually I really don't eat or like any of that. I like the "yucky stuff" conch ceviche, conch soup, conch/lobster/beef burritos, etc...

I've been here awhile so it is easy to come up with a list of what the kids might like.

Celi's Deli never failed to satisfy all of us (hot dogs & cinnamon rolls for them, tamales & meat pies for us), including the picky 5 year old. Great for lunch and we ate it in the golf cart, parked out front.

Jade Garden had an awesome variety in one place. We ate fabulous Chinese food and the kids ate burgers and fries. I wish there was a restaurant here like that! I'd never go to McDonald's again.

Papi's was great too, and I still dream about his conch fritters. I think the kids took home the extra french fries in a doggie bag, they were so good. Papi was very tolerant of our crabby hungry children -- he even opened early for us for dinner when he saw us lurking around outside.
